What do you do when your engagement tanks?

Does that ever happen to you, that you post and see crickets? What we do in this case is blame the algorithm, right? I thought so too, BUT  what I learned changed everything for me. I learned that you can make algorithm work in your favor.

Here is what your Facebook doesn’t like: posting links to buy your products and ANY third party links that take people away from the Facebook platform. Facebook also doesn’t favor when you post something 5 times per day. If you are going to post, make your ONE POST stand out, use high quality image and valuable content that is your own.

I have to be very smart how I am going to share about my newest blog, for example. Sometimes I will make a post and put a link in the comments, then later I would edit. This is once it gets a little more engagement first.

FAST LANE FORMULA

My 3 Hacks

1. Times to post

It is very important to know when is most of your audience present on social media. We have to take time zones into consideration. Analyze when that is for you, maybe its early in the morning, lunch time, afternoon or evening.

I find that early afternoons is when I have the least engagement. My best times to post are in the morning, so I try to keep up with my schedule like that.

2. Actively engage in other people’s posts

You have probably heard that it is a good idea to engage in other people’s posts before you make your own post. It is “warming up the algorithm”. Here we are going to go one step further. So who is the post you are about to make for? Who is a type of person that will find it valuable. Is it for men or women, what ages,, what occupation, what problems…

For example if you are making a post about acne or about wrinkles and anti-aging, it is talking to a completely different audience.

Ideally you’d want to have your audience very targeted. It is a process, but once you do, you will see how you will have enormous interest when you post because it is speaking directly to their problems and wants.

So engage with people who this post is best suited for. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if it does.

You can do this through posts, stories or videos.

3. Make an engaging post once per week

At least once a week we need to spike up the engagement. The best way to do it is by creating one of the engaging posts. You may wonder how to do that… It is very simple, by asking questions, opinions, a rant on something you feel strongly about.

For example it can be which outfit to wear or what hairstyle to pick.

My crazy engagement post

Here’s a little bonus for you…

This is something I do now once a week on a Thursday. Every Thursday I make a funny post. I noticed every time I did this, my posts went viral. Not just that one, but everything that I would post.

It is my funny post. I collect humorous posts through out the week and I save them.
