What are those sleazy prospecting tactics…

First of, let me ask you a question. Are you prospecting on social media and are not seeing much results? You are maybe even getting blocked by friends, getting angry messages back from strangers or being rejected and ignored all the time.

I have definitely been there… There are many of those things I once did in hopes to grow my business and enroll more people. Watch the video below to learn more about these sleazy tactics I once used to do too.

Social media revolution

Lots of things changed with social media, especially for network marketers and they thought: “wow, I can reach billions of people here.” And that’s where it all started. It’s almost like network marketers ruin everything…

In the next few lines I will share with you about these sleazy tactics that are being used today.

The idea is: “let just send all these messages and something would stick.”

AND

Did you hear this one: “You got to follow up until they either join or say no” and even “no” is not forever, so you keep following up anyway. Just think about this, would you be annoyed at someone keep prospecting you even though you said “NO?”

 

3 sleazy messages

Here are 3 sleazy messages to stop sending immediately.

1. Copy/Paste scripts

Please don’t do this:

Hey (their name), I know we don’t know each other, but I see you like in________. My company is currently expanding my business in your area and I wanted to ask you if you keep your options open when it comes to other income streams? If not, totally cool.

You may wonder: what’s wrong with that…. you addressed the elephant the room, you gave them an out, you told them WHY them, right? Well the thing is, there is nothing personal about them here, you don’t know them…

This might have worked years ago, but it’s definitely not working right now. People now are EXPECTING the pitch. It happens sooooo often. And how does that make you feel when you get a negative feedback, which you will.

Even worse, your team will, if this is what you’re teaching them to do.

2. Spammy Introductions

What about these super annoying messages:

Hey I just joined  this new company and it’s nothing like what I’ve seen. I failed in a bunch of companies prior, but this one is finally taking off for me. It has the best product, system, trainers, comp plan…. EVERYTHING and you MUST look at this and consider joining early.”

I get these ALL THE TIME. Even when I’m just initially making a connection they will pitch me with a message similar to this. Please don’t. It is tacky.

I happen to be with the same company for 5 years that I love and I feel sorry for you that you didn’t find your home and are trying to see if the grass is greener some place else.

Just think about the team you are dragging around with you when changing companies as soon as the new shinny object shows up.

Now there are legitimate reasons to change, but think hard if you are doing it for the right reasons.

You know most leaders will be professional and not give you hard time for leaving, BUT, you will lose respect in their eyes as someone who they can’t count on and is not loyal to anything or is flaky.

3. “Can I post on your wall?”

“I am soooo close to my goal…”

AND asking for favors like your friends are obligated to post about your business on their wall.  Now this is showing a pure desperation. This is just not a good strategy and may end up costing you friendships and your reputation.
