Build a rapport or get straight to the point?
This has been a big dilemma and a topic of discussion of many networkers and gurus…. So what is the right way? We will discuss it here now and also go over pro’s and con’s of each method.
With so much conflicting information, many networkers end up doing NOTHING at all. You don’t want that to be your team, right?

Building a rapport
Let’s talk about building a rapport first. So the goal here is to connect and learn more about your prospect before you ask them if they are open to look at your business. You’ve probably heard of “FORM” or some variation of that where you ask series of questions. F-stands or family, O-for occupation, R- for recreation and M-for money or motivation.
Some marketers are great at building rapport, but some will get stuck in this “friend zone” and don’t know how and when to transition and when they do is awkward. Another thing is, lots of your team members don’t want to do this. They don’t want to “pitch their friends and family or go after perfect strangers….
Imagine after all the time building a rapport with someone, they may not be even qualified. Then when you approach them, they’ll be upset with you saying:
” you were friendly with me only to pitch me your business later, hmm no!!”
Getting straight to the point
Oh did I mention that building a rapport is very time consuming? Well so is getting to the point, BECAUSE you’re going to need to contact a lot more people every day in order for it to work.
Be prepared…. when prospecting this way, you have much higher chance of rejection, being ghosted and even blocked with angry message to accompany that. There is also a right and a wrong way of doing that. NEVER, EVER, NEVER, EVER, EVER send an unsolicited link. You have to find out if they are open first. If you do that, and send your link before their ok, that is SPAMMING.
When sending this type of a message, you got to address the “elephant in the room” which is that you don’t know each other. End your message by asking:
“are you open to taking a look and if not no worries at all?”
What you’d say in the middle is SUPER IMPORTANT. You have to make it personal to them. Even if you don’t know them, find something on their profile that you can compliment them on. Make them feel special and not like one of your 100 copy/paste recipients.
You are probably wondering: “How many of these messages I need to send daily?” It’s a lot a lot… at least 20 every day. Most marketers that are using this method send an average of 50-100 per day. That’s a lot if you think about it.

I’m glad you asked, and here is my answer: I DON’T PROSPECT AT ALL. Believe me over the years, I did everything I was told, no matter how painful it was. I thought it was the only way. But I found out later, that it wasn’t As a matter a fact you can enroll people and grow your team faster WITHOUT prospecting anyone.
