You probably would like to attract highly qualified prospects to join your team but you don’t want to spend hours every day messaging strangers and being uncomfortable. The good news, prospecting IS NOT the only way.

Cold market prospecting isn’t the only way…

You’ve probably told like I was that once you talk to all of your Warm Market aka family and friends, it’s time to start prospecting in your cold market…

I’ve done it for years. I was coachable and hungry. Often I was missing out things with my family because I was constantly in this loop. One thing I know it is very time consuming. I wish I learned sooner that that’s NOT the only way.

When doing Cold Market Prospecting there are specific steps to follow and I’m going to share them here now.

1. FIND PEOPLE

The first step is to find people to talk. In this example I’m talking online because that was how I was building my business for the most time. So online there are friends of friends, people who live locally, specific city or country, who are moms, who love to cook, travel, garden, sports…. you basically locate them.

2. QUALIFY

Now you need to find something on their social media profile to qualify them, to answer “why them?”. This may be based on where they live, what they do, what interests they have and then you will craft your message…

3. MESSAGE

And then you will message them something like: “Hey I see you live in ____ and we are currently expanding our business in your area… do you keep your options open to additional income?” Some of the scripts are more fancy like they address the elephant in the room: “hey we don’t know each other”, deal with possible “I’m too busy objection” by adding “if it didn’t interfere with what you’re currently doing?” or giving them an out like “if it’s not for you, it’s cool.”

4. BOOK THEM

The next step is to book them to see the presentation, however you are sharing it… in the video, live zoom webinar or in person. We know this is a skill too and we have to make sure we confirm the time when they will see it so we can then follow up.

5.FOLLOW UP

Lastly you are following up with them. There are different theories on the follow up and you probably heard the statistic that sales mostly happen after the 7th follow up. So if you are like me, you probably continued to follow up after they said no or stopped responding to your messages.

2nd alternative to cold market prospecting

This is building a rapport first, so when you prospect them they are more warm. Some trainers will tell you to use FORM when you are meeting someone new. FORM stands for Family, Occupation, Recreation and Motivation or Money.

This way you are becoming friends first, before you prospect them. Now this process is even more time consuming because you are in all these conversations and without knowing if they are even interested when you ask.

Another thing is, they way be offended when all of the sudden you prospect them.

Attraction Marketing

This is my favorite way. If anyone told you that even if you are using Attraction Marketing you still have to prospect too, is wrong. You are doing things to have people come to you without having to convince, overcome objections, deal with rejection… none of that.

I realized that Cold Market Prospecting wasn’t for me. I did not like people ghosting me and spending so much time in one on one conversations.

Attraction Marketing is passive

Prospects come to you because of your marketing. There are 3 skills you need to master in Attraction Marketing. It is a skill, it takes time to learn it, but in the end is so worth it.

Here are the 3 skills

1. Attract

First you are going to learn Attraction, how to get clear on who your market is and how to put your message in front of them. You’ll be speaking directly to them in your content.

2. Influence

Next thing is giving value and this is not you posting about your products all over social media or before/afters. It is solving their specific problems, overcoming their fears, showing them their wants and dreams are possible.

3. Enroll

The enrollment part will become natural. You’ve already built influence with them, didn’t prospect them, you are a valuable resource to them. Typically you’ll answer a few questions and they are ready to join you. There is no selling.

Conversations most likely happen after your prospect is already pre-qualified. They’ve been through the whole process and just need some clarity to take the next step.
